Ohio Olympics - multiple choice

Before I even ask the question, keep in mind that the answer is not “none of the above, that is ridiculous”. Now for the question.
If the Olympic Games were to come to Ohio for 2020, which would be most likely as a host city?
a) Cincinnati
b) Columbus
c) Cleveland
Let the commenting begin.

Banks project goes Disney?

According to an article on the WLWT web site, Carter/Dawson, the developer, has asked the city and county officials to envision Disney World style entertainment for the Banks project. Company names mentioned in the article include negotiations with Kroger, ESPNZone and Margaritaville.
As a former resident of Florida, I have to comment on the fact that [...]

The curse of the dirt

The great pile of dirt could be affecting the Reds’ performance.  Local legend says that the Reds will win the pennant when they have a space adjacent to the Ballpark worthy of the massive celebration that would bring.
If you believe in local legend, buy your season tickets now for the summer of 2010.

When you can’t innovate, replicate

Liberty Township is planning a major new development that is being called “The Banks 2“. It’s been proposed as a pedestrian-friendly mix of urban park, retail, residential, entertainment, hotel, conference, and office space. It’s also being compared to two, upscale modern shopping malls in the region: Easton Town Center in Columbus and The [...]

Renaming PBS?

Recently, Hamilton County Commissioner Todd Portune suggested decreasing the county’s debt from the Paul Brown Stadium construction project by selling naming rights.
Around the country, selling major venue naming rights has been inevitable as an income source for facilities that are massively expensive to build and maintain. Like it or not, it’s a viable alternative [...]

Trashed Again

Every time there is a Reds game or other event near the Riverfront, we’re disappointed to see what people leave behind.  There are trash cans on every corner downtown, so there is no excuse for what we find.

Some times we consider asking people if they do this to their own neighborhoods in the ‘burbs.
We live [...]

Two-wheeled joy

Today was an AMAZING day for a bike ride. I’m sure I’m not alone in saying that it would be an even more incredible ride if I didn’t have to contend with the traffic.
Although I ride out Eastern Avenue from downtown at least once a week, and always pass loads of other riders - [...]

Look daddy…dirt!

This morning my sister-in-law ran a leg of the Flying Pig Marathon. I was on duty as “Cool Aunt Bri” helping my brother round up his kids so that they could see mommy after the race.
As I was pulling 2 nearly 3 year-old twins in their red wagon past The Banks, I heard a [...]

The tipsy toilet

It was windy today. How windy you ask?
Windy enough to knock a pre-marathon portapotty near The Banks right off it’s base.

Talk about an unlucky start.
