Riverfronts in the same boat?
Posted by Brianne
An article on the blog My Hometown Ohio writes that 2008 brings the start of both Cincinnati’s The Banks project and Columbus’ Scioto Mile project.
They may have gotten more city votes for a local Startup Weekend, but The Banks is a much larger undertaking than the Scioto Mile. Columbus has been rebuilding and rebranding their downtown in sections (Short North, Arena District, need I say more?).
As Spiderman’s uncle would say: “with great power comes great responsibility”. Here in Cincinnati, we interpret that as “with great perfectly located real estate development opportunities comes great expectations”.
Cincinnati and Columbus compete like two siblings. If I may make a bold prediction, I think that our sibling rivalry and state-sharing will lead Ohio to become one of the most exciting states in the union within the next decade (or so). We’re already connected by a MegaBus route, and may someday be connected by a high speed passenger rail line. All the better to support each other with (and visit my good friend going to law school at OSU)!

I agree….I just hope that we (Cincinnati) do not drop the ball on this one.

Friendly competition is good! I’d love to see Cincinnati do well with this project.
